This,
our freshman release, is
a 10 song effort which typifies the sound
of the band. Strongly rooted in the foundations of old-school rock, "shoes for fish" should satisfy listeners of bands like The Eagles all the way through to bands
like Alice In Chains. Loaded with rich vocal harmonies and haunting guitar work, we feel this album is a breath of fresh-but-familiar air when contrasted with your typical
rock albums that are coming out today. If you've been wondering where all the great songs went, we hope you've found them here with Darwins God!4/5/08 at FBI with Cerebro and Rowe
So....our first official show is April 5, 2008 at Club FBI (11528 Jones Rd, Houston, TX 77070). These are a couple of our favorite bands in Houston, and they did us the favor of setting this show up at one of the premier rock clubs in Houston, so we thank them for that.Cerebro - an acoustic driven rock band - starts playing sometime near 10:00 PM. Darwins God at 11:00 PM. Rowe at Midnight. This is a special FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT...no cover charge. All ages show.
The Big Kick Off (Words From HOOK)
Completely unknown to our friends and fans - and intended to be kept that way for the most part - Darwins God played a couple of shows in Houston during the months of February and March 2008 in order to blow out some cobwebs.
Having been about 8 years since I (HOOK) had played a live show, and about 4
years for JOHN (and not nearly so long for DOM and CHRIS, as they have stayed somewhat active playing in the live Houston
and Austin scenes), we decided it best to get out there unannounced
once or twice to be sure things would go off without a hitch. And...I must admit that I was a bit curious as to what sort of reception we'd get from people. The reaction
so far has been beyond my expectations. The people who have heard our stuff have been very supportive and surprisingly genuine about their love of the music. For ME, live performances took a back seat when I moved to Houston in 2001 - I quit my band in Kansas to plant roots in Texas. During my hiatus from the stage, I started Skullsessions Studios, where I still record and mix demos and full-length CD's for Houston's best Pop and Rock Bands. Some of which can be found nation-wide in Best Buy and FYE stores.
JOHN, on the other hand, had taken a break from the scene to study additional techniques which would allow him to promote to higher levels of the Houston Fire Department.

So....how did the first couple of shows go? Well...not surprisingly, with the talent and tenure of the players I've surrounded myself with in Darwins God, everything turned out beautifully. Even with the difficulties of new stages and new sound guys, I feel we pulled things off like rock royalty, and met some nice new people along the way. Oh...and to Fitzgeralds and The Acadia Bar....we promise to come back soon with the whole crew. Many thanks to you for letting us play your venues unannounced.
